One of the oldest ambitions in plasma technology: producing and storing energy in a different way. This page describes what people in this field are working towards, not something you can buy from us.
None of this exists yet
as a finished product.
What follows are ideas and experiments. There is no working plasma battery you can buy, from us or from anyone else, and we are not developing one. We put this page here because people ask where this technology could go, and because we would rather explain it than leave you guessing.
Efficiency
The idea is that plasma materials could be built into parts such as electrodes or catalysts, so that converting energy from one form into another loses less along the way. It is being tested at a small scale. Whether it holds up outside a lab is an open question.
Storage
The most talked about direction, and the least proven. The hope is a storage medium that holds more, charges faster and lasts longer than the batteries we have now. For the moment that is an ambition, not a result.
Cleaner
by design.
Any energy source that reduces the need for fossil fuels is worth investigating. That is the reasoning behind the interest here. It is a motive rather than an achievement, and we would rather call it what it is.
Working with
what is already there.
Sun and wind are abundant but irregular. Every serious energy question comes back to that gap, and it is one of the reasons storage keeps getting attention. This is where the two directions above meet.
A steadier
grid.
Store what is left over when demand is low, release it when demand peaks. That principle is not new and is not specific to plasma. What is being explored is whether plasma based storage could do it better.
We are not building
any of this.
We are two people in Hoofddorp making Plasma GaNS by hand for personal use. We follow this field because it is where our own products come from, but we do no research into energy systems and we have no stake in whether any of it works.
If you came here hoping to buy something from this page, there is nothing. What we do have is bottles and tubes, and about those we can tell you exactly what we know.
